Many online family trees identify Hugh Ward’s wife as Mary Ann Sexton, daughter of Benjamin Sexton and Comfort Smith, but I have that Mary Ann Sexton as married to Solomon Cox in Bath Co. in 1814, who second married Louise Trimble in 1823. There is a marriage record in Bath Co. for the marriage of Solomon Cox and Mary Ann Sexton, while I have not seen any marriage record for Hugh Ward and his wife. So unless Solomon and Mary Ann were divorced, that Mary Ann Sexton must have died before 1823.

1850 census of Morgan Co., Ky, enumerated 21 Aug, lists on p. 52 as family #333:
Mary A. Ward, 60, b. Va; Elizabeth, 30; Nancy, 22; Vilet, 19; William, 17. All except Mary born in Va.

The preceding household is headed by Nancy Ward age 36, with five children aged 14 through 5 months, possibly the wife of one of Hugh and Mary’s sons.

1860 census of Morgan Co., Ky, division 2, West Liberty P.O., enumerated 27 July, lists on p. 96 as family #634:
Mary Ward, age 73, b. Va; Elizabeth, 43; Nancy, 34; Sarah Ingram, 8. All except Mary born in Ky.

The preceding household is headed by William Ward age 27, and the one before that by Albert Ward age 35, both sons of Mary. The one before that is headed by Thomas Ward age 50, with wife Nancy age 46, and some of the same children who were with Nancy in the 1850 census, plus more. So he was apparently off traveling somewhere in 1850.

Sarah is a granddaughter, the daughter of Violet Ann Ward and John B. Ingram.
