1860 census of Lewis Co., Ky, enumerated 21 June, precinct not recorded, lists on p. 133 as family #980:
Alexander McDaniel, 37, farmer; Nancy J., 30; William, 13; Sarah, 11; Martha, 5. All born in Kentucky.
The only McDaniel family of the right generation recorded in the 1870 census of Lewis Co. is the following:
1870 census of Lewis Co., Ky, Vanceburg precinct, enumerated 10 July, lists on p. 11 as family #83:
McDaniel, Wm, 48, farmer; Mary J., 40; Lizzie, 10. All born in Kentucky.
They are next door to the family of William Doyle and Sarah Catherine McDaniel, at household 82. I believe this record is most likely for Alexander. Since he had a son named William Alexander, it is possible that was his full given name as well. If this assumption is correct, then Lizzie may be older than her age as recorded in later records.
1880 census of Lewis Co., Ky, Henderson precinct, enumerated 10 June, lists on p. 5 as family #40:
McDaniel, Alex, 59, b. Ky Va Va, farmer; Martha, 49, wife, b. Ky Ky Ky; Elizabeth, 15, dau, b. Ky Ky Ky.
The preceding household is headed by their son William with his wife Louisa.
