His death certificate records Jeff Mays, age 67, born 10 June 1885 in Kentucky, died 28 June 1952 in Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, married, occupation general retailing, father John Mays, mother’s maiden name Bethenia Fultz, cause of death coronary insufficiency due to arteriosclerotic heart diseast with congestive failure, informant Suzy Mays, burial in Mays Cemetery.

The age is probably quite a lot wrong, since he was listed as age 18 in the 1910 census and age 28 in the 1920 census. (I have not found him or his parents in the 1900 census.)

1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 10 April, lists on p. 9B as family #54:
Maze, Jeff, 40, age at first marriage 19, laborer on R.R. section; Susie, wife, 38, age at first marriage 16; George, son, 19; Charean, dau, 13; Hollie, son, 11; Armilda, dau, 5 1/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1940 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 15 April, lists on p. 3A as family #32:
Mays, Jeff, 48, farmer; Susie, wife, 48; George, son, 24; Holly, son, 15; Mildeth, dau, 14; Delphia, dau, 7. All born in Kentucky, living in same house in 1935.

The next household is that of their daughter Charlene (Sharlie) with her husband Earl Riddle.
