1920 census of Monroe Co., West Virginia, Gap Mills district, enumerated 6 Jan, lists on p. 2B, lines 84 through 88 (households not numbered):
Brown, Jack, 42, farm laborer; Dee, wife, 21; Bessie, dau, 6; Ethell, dau, 4 3/12; Andrew, son, 10/12. All born Ky Ky Ky (including the baby.)
The following household is Dee’s widowed brother Peter with his son Thomas, and on lines 95-97 is the family of Dee’s sister Minnie with her husband Charlie Felty.
1930 census of Morgan Co., Ky, Blaze precinct, enumerated April 22, lists on p. 9B as family #122:
Brown, Jack, 50, age at first married 21; Dee, wife, 35, age at first marriage 15; Bessie, dau, 18; Ethel, dau, 16; Vanda, son, 14; Jim, son, 12; Lenora, dau, 10; Dink, dau, 2. All born Ky Ky Ky.
Judging by the 1910 and 1920 censuses, Dee was really only 13 when Bessie was born. The preceding household is headed by Dee’s bother Pete Horsley, whose son Tom would later marry Jack and Dee’s daughter Rebecca (apparently recorded here as “Dink”.)
