Her birthdate is uncertain. She was listed as age 3 in the 1910 census, age 21 (or 22 - hard to read) in the 1920 census, and age 20 on her death record in 1927. The first and last are consistent with each other, but would mean she should be only 13 in 1920, which seems young to be married.

Her death certificate records Goldie Nickols, age 20, birthdate unknown, born in Carter Co., Ky, died 11 Dec 1927 at Eastern State Hospital, Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky, usual residence Soldier, Carter Co., Ky, length of stay in hospital 3 months 9 days, married, wife of Sherman Nickols, parents not known, cause of death cerebral hemorrhage, contributory cause Parkinson’s disease, informant records of Eastern State Hospital, burial in Soldier, Ky.

1920 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Devils Fork precinct, enumerated 5 Jan, lists on p. 2A as family #21:
Nickols, Shurman, 21, farmer; Goldia, wife, 21 (?); Martha B., sister, 8; Steveson, brother, 6. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The age for Goldia is hard to read. It has been written over and the ink is blotchy. It looks like it originally said 22 and was written over to say 21, but it is possible that the correction is 17 - the first number is thick enough to obscure any overstroke of 1.

1930 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Hogtown precinct, enumerated 16 April, lists on p. 9A as family #145/147:
Jennings, Clarence, 47, age at first marriage unk, loader at clay mine; Kansas, wife, 39, age at first marriage 13; Ray, son, 15; Reba, dau, 14; Retha, dau, 10; Nickles, Shurman, son in law, 29, widowed, age at first marriage 14; Steive, relative, 16; Perry J., son, 6, b. WVa Ky Ky; Daniel B., son, 4 2/12. All except Perry born Ky Ky Ky.

The relationship for Shurman and Steve should be stepson, not son in law, and for Perry and Daniel should be step grandson.
