Be careful not to confuse him with William M. Rice, son of Archibald Rice and Cinderella, who was also born about 1843 and lived in Carter Co., and married Catherine Foster.

I can find no record of this William after the 1880 census, so he may have died before 1900. On the other hand, he may have moved to another state.

In 1870 he was listed as William Rice, age 26, single, collier, in Hunnewell Furnace, Greenup Co., as a boarder with the family of Hiram and Mary A. Fultz. In 1880 he was back with his parents, listed as age 34, and still single.
