Census Notes for David M. & Sarah Alice (Family)
1900 census of Bath Co., Ky, White Sulphur precinct, enumerated 23 June, lists on p. 22B as family #443:
Rogers, David M., 48, b. Mar 1852, day labor; Allice, wife, 25, b. July 1874, married 8 years, mother of 5 children, 4 living; Page, Malisie, dau, 18, b. Apr 1882, married 2 years, mother of 2 children, 1 living; Elizabeth L., dau, 5, b. Sep 1894; Saml D., son, 3, b. June 1896; David Mc., son, 2, b. Apr 1898.
This record is rather confusing as to who are the parents of the three young children. Since relationships are supposed to be according to the head of household, and surnames are supposed to be entered whenever they differ from the person above, taken literally it would mean that they are all children of David Rogers, but that their surname is Page. This seems highly unlikely - if any of them are his, then their surname would presumably be Rogers. Also, Alice and Melissa, who are both much too young to have adult children, claim to have between them 5 living children, but there are only three children in the household. Judging by the 1910 census, below, they are apparently all Rogers - the only one who does not appear by name is Elizabeth L, but she is probably the same person as Ethel age 15, since Malissie is unlikely to have a child born in 1894.
1910 census of Bath Co., Ky, Wyoming precinct, enumerated 26 April, lists on p. 4A as family #43:
