The only one of John’s children that I have a connection to is Henry, whose second wife was Emma Sexton. I’m entering the details for the others, especially their birth records, mainly to document that Henry cannot have been born in March 1854, as he reported in most adult census records.

1860 census of Bath Co., Ky, Owingsville P.O., enumerated 21 June, lists on p. 66 as family #479:
John Tincher, 36, farm hand; Jane, 27; Elizabeth, 9; Henry, 7; John, 3; Harvy, 2; W. T. Green (m), 28, Baptist minister. All born in Kentucky.

1870 census of Bath Co., Ky, Sharpsburg precinct, enumerated 6 June, lists on p. 9 as family #57:
Tincher, Jno S., 46, farmer; Jane, 38; Henry, 17; Jno, 13; Harvy, 11; Nancy J., 11. All born in Kentucky.

Although Harry and Nancy are recorded as the same age here, in 1860 Harry is listed as age 2, and Nancy does not appear at all.

The preceding household is headed by Caleb Otis age 44 with wife America, whose daughter Mary was the first wife of Henry Tincher. The following household is headed by Newton Sorrell age 28 with wife Elizabeth (nee Otis).
