For most of his adult life, he reported his birthdate as March 1854. But the 1860 census listed him as age 7, and the 1870 census as age 17, suggesting a birthdate in 1853. His brother William, though, was recorded in Bath Co. birth records as born 8 June 1853, creating a conflict with March 1853, and also with March 1854, which would be only 9 months later. So he was apparently really born in 1852. (His younger brother John, born 18 Mar 1846 according to birth records, was reported as 3 in 1860 when he should have been 4, which would be consistent with Henry being reported as 7 whenn he should be 8.)

In 1920 he was listed in Lexington, Ky as a patient at Eastern State Hospital, Henry Tincher, 68, married, b. Ky U.S. U.S.
