The Kentucky birth index lists Murvel L. Day, born 27 Feb 1918, mother’s maiden name Bulah James.
His obituary reported:
“Mervil Edward Day, 87, of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, April 9, 2005, in Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Day was born Feb. 27, 1918, in Morehead, Ky., a son of the late John N. Day and Beulah Mae Lane Day.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Day; and two great-grandchildren, Jennifer Gravell and Aaron Johnson.
For 50 years Mr. Day owned and operated Day's Garage in Ashland. He was a World War II U.S. Navy SeaBees veteran and was of the Baptist faith.
His survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ruth Ream Day, whom he married on Sept. 14, 1936, in Ashland; two daughters, Kathryn (Casey) and her husband, Donald Johnson, of Coal Grove, Ohio, and Dottie Heighton of Ashland; a son, Thomas Day of Ashland; two sisters, Gertrude Prater and Mary Margaret Lanzo, both of Ashland; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.”
