Notes for David Harrison Day Jr.
There were two birth certificates filed for him, both delayed.
The one filed in 1956 is indexed as Dave H. Day, born 1 July 1933 in Boyd Co., mother’s maiden name Ethel Hall. The one filed in 1961 says David H. Day, born 1 July 1932 in Boyd Co., mother’s maiden name Nannie Hall. Both filings would have been after he was declared presumed dead. Perhaps the certificate was necessary for one of his posthumous service medals.
The Koren War Veterans Honor Roll lists Private First Class Dave Harrison Day, Jr., member of the Heavy Mortar Company, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on December 2, 1950. He was presumed dead on February 19, 1954.
