“Uncle Arch Day, who was probably the oldest citizen of Maytown, died at his residence of that place on Tuesday night at the advanced age of 87 years. He was a father of quite a large family, and leaves several grown children, among whom Judge Frank Day, of Mt. Sterling, and John and Jeff Day of Maytown.”

Maytown is a tiny rural community (population about 250 in the 2010 census) in Morgan Co., at the intersection of Kentucky roads 1010 and 946, about 16 miles southwest of West Liberty, and 1/4 mile from the Wolfe Co. line. The nearest real town is Hazel Green, in Wolfe Co., about 7 miles southeast. Since it is so close to the county line, people reporting their residence as Maytown may live in either county.

Her death certificate records Anna Day, age 90 years 3 months 21 days, born 11 Dec 1824 in Toliver, Wolfe Co., Ky, died 2 April 1915 in Gosneyville, Clifty precinct, Wolfe Co., Ky, father John Cox, birthplace blank, mother fields blank, cause of death old age, informant R. A. Day, Maytown, Ky, burial in Day Cemetery.

In 1900 she was recored in Wolfe Co., Ky with her son Robert as Sarah A. Day, mother, widowed, age 75, born Dec 1824, Ky Va Va.

Morgan Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 10 Mar 1846 of Archibald Day and Sarah Ann Cox, by Joseph Nickell.

1850 census of Morgan Co., Ky, enumerated 11 Sep, lists on p. 114 as family #746:

The preceding household is headed by Arch and Ann’s son William T, and their daughter Mary Ann is living with him, listed as Molie A., age 16, sister. The following two households are their daughters Perlina and Juda with their husbands.
