His death certificate records Charles C. McCormick, age 85, born June 1871 in Frenchburg, Ky, died 8 Oct 1956 in Springfield, Greene Co., Missouri, retired farmer, widowed, father George W. McCormick, mother’s maiden name Elizabeth Lewis, cause of death generalized arteriosclerosis and chronic myocarditis, informant Mrs. Frances McCormick, burial in Maple Park, Aurora, Missouri.
He was probably really born in 1872. He was recorded as age 9 in the 1880 census, which would fit reasonably well with a birthdate in June 1871, but his older brother James Joseph Thomas McCormick was recorded in 1880 as age 11, when he cannot have been born before June 1870 because he did not appear in the 1870 census. So J. Thomas was most likely born in Dec 1870, which would make June 1871 only 6 months later.
