Sterling, Montgomery Co., Ky, born 15 March 1880, occupation farmer, self employed, nearest relative Mrs. Zula McCormick, same address. (His signature spells his middle name as Steavin. The ‘s’ was probably just appended by the recording clerk.)
Be careful not to confuse him with William Stanley McCormick, born 4 Mar 1880 in Grant Co., Ky, son of William A. McCormick and Arizona Printy. (Since they are both William S. McCormick’s born March 1880 in Kentucky, Ancestry.com tends to suggest the records for both of them as “hints” for the other.)
His death certificate records Wm S. McCormick, age 62 years 4 months, born 15 March 1880 in Montgomery Co., Ky, died 7 Aug 1942 at 116 Harrison Ave., Mt. McCormick, William, 30, blacksmith; Zula, 20, first marriage for both, married 3 years, mother of 1 child, 1 living; Roger, son, 1 7/11. All born Ky Ky Ky.
1920 census of Montgomery Co., Ky, Mt. Sterling ward 2, enumerated 12 Jan, lists on pp. 8B-9A as family #175/220, at 15 Strother St:
McCormick, Will, 39, farm laborer; Zula, 29, wife, 29; Roger D., son, 11; Ruth, dau, 9; Arabell, dau, 5; Willoughby, Laura, mother-in-law, 59, widowed; Laura, dau, 11. All born Ky Ky Ky.
(The relationship of the younger Laura Willoughby is probably wrong; it is unlikely that she would be Will’s or Zula’s daughter, since she was not living with them in 1910. Zula’s mother, though, seems too old to be having a child in 1908.)
