Census Notes for James & Sarah A. (Family)
1900 census of Montgomery Co., Ky, Spencer precinct, enumerated 8 June, lists on p. 5A as family #85/92:
Clark, James, 22, b. Dec 1877, farmer; Sarah A., wife, 19, b. Dec 1880, first marriage for both, married 1 year, mother of 1 child, 0 living; Hackney, Sallie F., mother-in-law, 70, b. May 1830. All born Ky Ky Ky.
The age and birthdate for James have been overwritten and corrected. It looks like it originally had the same data as Sarah’s. The age for Sallie Hackney is inconsistent with the 1920 census, and is probably incorrect, since it would make her 50 when Sarah was born.
1910 census of Bath Co., Ky, district 4, enumerated 26 April, lists on p. 12B as family #268/281:
Clark, Sarah A., 29, widowed, mother of 8 children, 4 living; Bethel, dau, 9; Robert, son, 6; Bernice, dau, 5; Bertha, dau, 1. All born Ky Ky Ky.
1920 census of Bath Co., Ky, White Sulphur precinct, enumerated 12 Jan, lists on p. 4A as family #70:
Hackney, Sally, 72, widowed, farmer; Clark, Bethel, granddau, 19; Robert, grandson, 17; Bernice, granddau, 13; Bertha, granddau, 11. All born Ky Ky Ky.
In 1930 Bernice age 23 and Bertha age 21, both single, are living in Terre Haute, Vigo Co., Indiana, as boarders with the family of Walter G. and Clara E. Morton.
