Morgan Co. marriage records list marriage of James Elliott to Sarah Caskey on 25 Aug 1864, at the home of M. A. Caskey, witnesses P. H. Dyer and E. Perry.
It is not certain that this is the same James Elliott who married Ruth Jones just one year earlier, in July 1863. Neither James, Sarah nor Ruth appear in the 1870 census of Morgan or surrounding areas, and the names are too common to be able to clearly identify the family if they moved to another state, so I do not know what age the James Elliott who married Sarah Caskey was. But I can’t find any other James Elliott in the 1860 census of Morgan county who would be of marrying age in 1864 and who isn’t married to the same wife in 1870 that he was in 1860.
