Census Notes for Daniel & Eliza Jane (Family)
I cannot find this family in the 1860 census. In 1870 their children appear with Eliza and her second husband:
1870 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Cross Roads precinct, enumerated 30 June, lists on p. 11 as family #74:
White, John, 26, farmer; Eliza, 35; William, 2; Perry, Marshall, 14 ;James, 12; John, 10; Mary, 8. All born in Kentucky.
According to Morgan Co. birth records, James was born in Sep 1859 and would therefore really be 10. So the ages for the other children are probably younger than recorded here as well.
The 1880 census also includes a stepson Thomas age 18, who does not appear in the 1870 census. I’m attaching him tentatively to this family, but it may be that the relationship was entered incorrectly.
1880 census of Bath Co., Ky, White Sulphur precinct, enumerated 8 June, lists on p. 10 as family #89/92:
White, John, 35, farmer; Eliza, 45, wife; Mary, 16, dau; William, 13, son; Sarah E., 3, dau; Nora, 2, granddau; John 20, stepson; Thomas, 18, stepson.
