Notes for Corilla Armstrong
Her death certificate records Corilla McKinney, age 32 years 10 months 6 days, born 26 March 1882 in Ky, died 1 Feb 1915 in Bath Co., Ky, widowed, father Jas B. Armstrong, mother’s maiden name Melvina Alfrey, both born in Ky, cause of death septic infection, informant John McKinney, Salt Lick, Ky, burial in Alfrey Cemetery.
The marital status is odd, since her husband John McKinney outlived her by 46 years, and was the informant on this certificate. I also cannot find a match in any other records for her parents. (This is one of the times when one really misses the 1890 census.)
I suspect that she is really the youngest daughter of James Russell Armstrong and Barbara Alfrey. The widowed Barbara (Alfrey) Armstrong is living next door to John and Corilla in the 1900 and 1910 censuses, recorded as the mother of 13 children, 9 living.

McKinney, age 38, resident of and born in Rowan Co., father born in Morgan Co., mother born in Bath Co., his second marriage, to Corrilla Armstrong, age 18, born in and resident of Bath Co., mother born in Rowan Co., location “crost the river”, by H. G. Alderson, bond surety by E. L. Cogswell, witnesses James Thomas and Albert Johnson.
