His death certificate records Al Gearhart, age 76, birthdate blank, born in Va, died 11 Mar 1919 in Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, divorced, farmer, parent names “dont know”, both born in Va, cause of death general paralysis of the insane (that was what they called the terminal stage of syphilis in those days), informant blank, burial in Baldridge Cemetery.

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 4, p. 74, records the marriage on 8 Oct 1901 of A. H. Gearhart, residence Hildy, born in Virginia, his second marriage, to Eare Burton, residence Hildy, born in Rowan Co., her first marriage, by E. C. Sexton at his home in Fleming Co., witnesses C. S. Sexton and F. A. Adkins.

1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, enumerated 4 May, lists on p. 13A as family #228/230:
Gearhart, A. H., 68, b. Va Va Va, second marriage, married 7 years, farmer; Donathan, Claude, ward, 14, b. Ky Ky Ky, farm hand.

I do not know where Allen’s second wife was living. They were probably separated already. His death certificate recorded him as divorced.
