Notes for Mary Elizabeth Morris
I cannot find any Mary Morris of approximately the right age in the 1900 census of Rowan or surrounding counties. I strongly suspect she is the daughter of William Morris and Seattie Wright who was recorded in the 1900 census as Lizzie, age 8. That is three years older than the age implied for this Mary in the 1910 and 1920 censuses, but the age reported in those censuses would mean that she married at age 12, so they are most likely too young anyway. Also William and Seattie were the only Morris family actually living in Rowan County (there were others in adjacent counties), they lived in Farmers like the Thomas C. Brown family did, and there is no death or marriage record for their daughter Lizzie. And they had a son named Cleveland, next in the age order to their daughter Lizzie.
