Elliott Co. was not formed until 1869. He was born in the part of Carter Co. that later became part of Elliott Co.

Her death certificate records Julia A. Tackett, age 56 years 6 months 3 days, born 12 Aug 1862 in Ky, died 16 Feb 1919 in Ashland, Boyd Co., Ky, married, father John Kelley, born in N.C., mother’s maiden name Nancy Whitt, cause of death splenic enervia (?), informant illegible Tackett, burial in Enterprise, Ky.

BRIEF HISTORY

The history of Travis Lee and Julia Ann Tackett, natives of Elliott county, Ky., is an interesting one. Immediately following their marriage the Tacketts moved to Carter county and nineteen children, fourteen boys and five girls, including two sets of twins, were born to this union. Mrs. Tackett, who was a devoted Christian and a member of the Church of God, died in Ashland in 1915. A few years later, Mrs. Tackett moved to Ashland and remained her until his death in 1937.

The members of the family, a large majority of whom are still living, are scattered. Carl, age 52, resides at 3169 Central avenue and is engaged in the grocery business; Ed, aged 50, is a resident of Enterprise, Ky., and is an inspector for a brick company there; Arthur, age 49, resides at 2313 Hilton avenue and is employed by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway; John W., age 47, ex-state senator in New Mexico, resides at Albuquerquer; Lee, age 45, resides at Eighth street and Greenup avenue and is employed by the Ashland Brick Company; Mrs. Mintie Tackett Gray, is a resident of Olympia, Ky., Oscar of Pennsylvania, and Raymond Roosevelt of Long Beach, Calif.
