She was probably really born about 1839 to 1841; she was recorded as age 10 in the 1850 census, and her sister Barbara was born in May 1842.

Morgan Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 17 Jan 1874 of William C. Short, age 20, and Evalin Elam, age 32, both residences of Morgan Co., by William K. Gibson at his home, witnesses G. R. Elam and Ezekiel Gibson.

I cannot find this family in the 1880 or 1900 censuses.

1920 census of Morgan Co., Ky, West Liberty precinct, enumerated 8 Jan, lists on p. 5A as family #79/83:
Short, W. C., 66, widowed, b. Tenn Tenn Tenn; James H., son, 45, b. Ky Tenn Ky, farmer.

The preceding household is headed by William’s son Joe, the following one by his daughter Lizzie Fairchild (widowed), and the one after that by his son Elijah.
