The age is probably low; he was recorded as 40 in the 1850 census.

Morgan Co., Ky deaths report for 1854 records Rebecca Whitt, age 38, married, farmer’s wife, residence White Oak, born in Grayson Co., Virginia, daughter of Joseph Day, died 24 May 1854, cause of death delivering of child, remarks “Wheeler” (probably the informant, which for these annual reports from the county to the state was usually a doctor or midwife, not a family member.)

1850 census of Tazewell Co., Virginia, enumerated 29 Sep, lists on p. 189 as family #1274:
Jas M. Whitt, 40, farmer; Rebecca, 35; Betsy, 14 (or 16); Empriscilla, 9; Ingram, 8; Jas, 5; Polly, 4; Wm, 2. All born in Virginia.

The preceding household is headed by James H. Whitt and Matilda (nee Martin), whose daughter Louisa would later marry Ingram Whitt.

In 1860 their two youngest children Mary (Polly) and William are living in Magoffin Co., Ky, with their oldest daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) and her husband Elisha Oney. Their son James is living with Rebecca’s sister Rhoda and her husband James Oney. (Any children born after 1850 presumably died in infancy.)
