Her death certificate records Delilie Whitt, age 57 years 8 months 21 days, born 11 Sep 1856, birthplace blank, died 2 June 1914 in Grape precinct, Magoffin Co., Ky, father William Amyx, mother’s maiden name Linnie Davis, both born in Magoffin Co., cause of death paralysis, informant M. P. Whitt, burial in Whitt graveyard. (The marital status field has a short vertical line in it, which I cannot interpret.) The informant would be her son Miles Preston Whitt, 1880-1959.

John and Delilah had 14 children. John also fathered at least two children out of wedlock. (Like father, like son.)

Family history reports that Delilah killed Johnny. They say that she had finished preserving the harvest for the coming winter when Johnny told her to pack and get out.  She then went upstairs, came back down with a gun, placed it behind his ear and blew his face off.
