His death certificate records James Riggsby, age 43, born 28 Aug 1864 in Ky, died 28 Mar 1917 in Panther precinct, Morgan Co., Ky, married, father Tom Riggsby, mother’s maiden name Betsy Hay, both born in Ky, cause of death typhoid fever, informant Will Riggsby, Yocum, burial in Fannin Gy.
The reported birthdate would imply an age of 52, and is inconsistent with both the reported age at death and with census records. He was recorded as age 7 in the 1880 census, and as age 26 born Aug 1873 in the 1900 census. A birthdate in 1873 is also consistent with the reported age at death. Someone may have known his age, and performed a subtraction error in calculating the birthdate.
