Her gravestone gives her birth date as 27 Aug 1828, but she was recorded as age 24 in 1850, the only census in which she appears.

1850 census of Floyd Co., Virginia, district 15, enumerated 29 Aug, lists on p. 114 as family #815:
Jeremiah Hylton, age 27, farmer, b. Floyd; Mary, 24, b. Floyd; Susannah L., 3, b. Caroll; Barbary E., 9/12, b. Floyd.
(Floyd County was formed in 1831, so the reference to Floyd Co. births for Jeremiah and Mary means the part of Montgomery Co. that became Floyd Co.) The preceding household is headed by Carter Jones age 30 with wife Eva (Slusher) age 27. The next household is headed by my GGG Grandparents, Joseph Slusher age 34, incorrectly recorded as Jeremiah, with wife Nancy (Wade) age 30.
In 1860 their children are living in Morgan Co., Kentucky with Mary’s sister Elizabeth and her husband Martin Montgomery.
