Her obituary reported “Mrs. Marm S. Brown, 80, of 3027 Gallia street, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Susie Arnold, at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday following a lingering illness of infirmatives. Mrs. Brown was born April 22, 1858 in Morgan county, Ky., a daughter of Thomas Owen and Katherine Eulett Brown. She was married to Moses Brown in 1875 in Catlettsburg. Mr. Brown died Feb. 9, 1922.
There were 15 children born to this union, seven of whom preceded their parents in death. The following children survive: Thomas Brown and Mrs. Belle Stigall of Michigan, Mrs. Mary Jane Payton of Pond creek, Mrs. Martha Culver of New Boston, Mrs. Lizzie Stigall of Wisconsin, Mrs. Anna Lowder of Greenup county, Isaac Brown of New Richmond and a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Preston of Jackson county, also survive. Mrs. Brown leaves 91 grandchildren and 92 great grandchildren.
During the Civil war the family located at Hecla Furnace, Lawrence county, where Mrs. Brown lived until the time of her marriage. She then moved to Rocky Fork, Scioto county. Mrs. Brown had lived in various places in Scioto county since the death of her husband. At the age of 8 she became a member of the Baptist church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Windel-Howland funeral parlors with Rev. Jackson in charge. Burial will be in Greenlawn. The body is at the home of the daughter, 3027 Gallia street, but will be returned to the funeral parlors Thursday at 11 a.m.”
