Skaggs, same address, physical description tall, slender, blue eyes, black hair, two broken fingers.

Census records are more consistent with a birth date in 1898 or 1899.

The Ohio death index lists Dewey E. Skaggs, age 67, born in Kentucky, died 4 Jan 1966 at Southern Ohio Med Ctr, Portsmouth, Scioto Co., Ohio, married.

Census records suggest that she was originally named Anna Rose Skaggs, but she later switched the order of her given names.

Her death certificate records Rose Anna Skaggs, age 45 years 11 months 1 day, born 7 April 1904 in Greenup Co., Kentucky, died 8 Mar 1849 at home in New Boston, Scioto Co., Ohio, residence 3722 Stanton Ave, married, father Henry Vinton Pack, mother’s maiden name Emma Nola Davis, cause of death cardio vascular disease, informant Dewey E. Skaggs, burial in Wheelersburg Cemetery.

Her gravestone is also inscribed Rose Anna Skaggs.

The census taker may have misheard “Dewey E” as “Dewey D”.

The Portsmouth, Ohio city directory for 1932 lists Dewey E. Skaggs, welder, and wife Anna living at 3046 Walnut St. The 1935 edition of the directory lists them living at 1111 Kendall Ave.
