The reported birth date is probably one year too early. He was recorded in the 1850 census as Brice Barrot age 4, in the 1860 census as Brice Barrett age 14, in the 1870 census as Bricen Barrett age 24, in the 1880 census as Brison Barrett age 34, and in the 1900 census as Bryson Barrett, age 54, b. June 1845.
The reported birth date is probably one year too early. He was recorded in the 1850 census as Brice Barrot age 4, in the 1860 census as Brice Barrett age 14, in the 1870 census as Bricen Barrett age 24, in the 1880 census as Brison Barrett age 34, and in the 1900 census as Bryson Barrett, age 54, b. The reported “age at first marriage” for Brison is really his age when he married Kate. He was only about 20 when he married Manerva Abner. Kate may have also had a prior marriage; I have not investigated earlier records for her.
