Morgan Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 29 Dec 1949 of Amos D. Coffee and Nancy Jane Williams, by William Coffee. (Also performed on the same day by William Coffee was the marriage of James C. McGuire and Mary P. Prater.)

Records for this family are in my database primarily to document that they are not the parents of David W. Coffee who married Nancy Ann Brown, as is commonly claimed.

1850 census of Morgan Co., Ky, enumerated 30 July, lists on p. 8 as family #53:
William Coffee, 65, farmer, b. Ky; Elizabeth, 64, b. Va; Nancy, 21, b. Ky; Amos, 20, laborer, b. Ky; Eliza Cannard, 21, b. Ky.

Nancy is probably Amos’s wife, rather than William and Elizabeth’s daughter, since Amos and Nancy married in December 1949. (Perhaps she was listed before him because she was a year older.)

1860 census of Magoffin Co., Ky, enumerated 27 June, lists on p. 28 as family #193:
Amos D. Coffee, 30, farmer; Nancy J., 31; Eliza J., 9; Aramathy, 7; Mason W., 4; Rosetta, 11/12. All born in Kentucky.

The next household is headed by Nancy’s parents Daniel and Rebecca Williams. Three households above is the family of Amos’s parents William and Elizabeth Coffee.

1870 census of Magoffin Co., Ky, precinct 2, Salyersville P.O., enumerated 4 July, lists on p. 2 as family #15:
Coffee, Amos D., farmer: Nancy J., 31; Eliza J., 18; Armatha M, 16; William M., 14; Rosetta B., 10; Rebecca, 8; Nancy A., 1/12, b. April. All born in Kentucky.
