The early census records as well as his marriage record to Rebecca are more consistent with a birth date in 1838, including the 1850 census of Pike Co., Ky, where he is recorded with his parents John and Darcus Mullens as John H. Mullens, age 12.

Her death certificate records Zerilda Lyttleton, age 69 years 11 months 11 days, born 11 Apr 1849 in Kentucky, died 22 Mar 1920 in Pine Grove precinct, Rowan Co., Kentucky, widowed, father William Utterback, born in Ky, mother’s name blank, cause of death asthma & old age, informant blank, burial in Sardis Gyd.

Her gravestone gives her name as Zarilda Utterback Branham, her birth date as 24 June 1851, and her death date as 23 Mar 1920.

1900 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Crackers Neck precinct, enumerated 9 June, lists on p. 8A as family #116/121:

Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 3, p. 570, records the marriage on 28 Oct 1900 of Henderson Mullens, age 63, residence Munson, born in and both parents born in Pike Co., Ky, his second marriage, to Serilda Mullens, age 47, residence Triplett, born in Morgan Co., her third marriage, in a church by John Kelley, witness Joseph Littleton, bond surety by R. P. Lewis.
