Rowan Co., Ky marriage book 1, p. 48, contains a bond for the marriage on 28 Mar 1884 of Clay Barber, guardian J. W. Barber, to Lucy Abbott, father Henry Abbott, bond surety by Geo. W. Abbott, witnessed by Jesse Abbott, consent note from J. W. Barber witnessed by E. B. Mannin & W. W. Clark. (I don’t see why guardian consent would be required, since Clay would have been 21 years old, but perhaps it was just to cover the bases.)
