His WW I draft registration card, filed 5 June 1917, records Evert Jones, age 25, residence Crix, Ky, born 1 Feb 1892 in Crix, Ky, occupation farming, self employed, married supporting wife and one child.
Leroy Hinton’s Rowan County Jottings35, top of p. 47, contains this snippet “Sept 19, 1929 Midland news: Mr. Everett Jones has returned to South Bend Ind., after spending a two weeks visit with friends and relatives here.”
His death certificate records William Evertt Jones, age 54 years 4 months 2 days, born 1 Feb 1892 in Rowan Co., died 3 June 1946 in Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, occupation carpenter, married, husband of Minnie Jones age 50, father Frank Jones, mother’s maiden name Riddle, both born in Rowan Co., cause of death lobar pneumonia, informant Minnie Jones, burial in Bradley Cemetery.
I was surprised to find this reference to Minnie, since I thought that he was married to Mote McClain, who survived him. Either Mote and Everett were divorced some time after 1930 and he remarried, or else she also went by Minnie.
