Riddle, age 82 years 4 mos 9 days, born 20 July 1864 in Ky, died 29 Nov 1946 in Bath Co., Ky, residence Owingsville, married, wife Dozia Belle Craycraft, father George Riddle, mother’s maiden name Mary Ferguson, both born in Ky, cause of death acute heart attack, informant John Riddle, Owingsville, burial in Riddle graveyard.
Census Notes for Richard “Dick” Andrew & Ida Mae (Family)
1900 census of Bath Co., Ky, Wyoming precinct, enumerated 18 June, lists on p. 12B as family #243:
Riddle, Richard, farmer, 33, b. July 1866; Ida May, wife, 22, b. April 1878, married 11 years, mother of 3 children, 3 living; George W., son, 8, b. April 1892; Clay, son, 4, b. Dec 1895; Obart, son, 1, b. Oct 1898. All born Ky/Ky/Ky. The age and birthdate for Ida must be wrong, as it would mean she was married at age 11. Also it is inconsistent with the 1880 census, where she appears as age 5.
1910 census of Bath Co., Ky, Wyoming precinct, enumerated 20 April, lists on p. 3A-3B as family #53/54, between Anderson Branch and White Oak Pike:
Riddle, Richard, farmer, 42, 2nd marriage; Jossie B., wife, 22, first marriage, married 6 years, mother of 5 children, all living; George W., son, 17; Clay M., son, 14; Hobert L., son, 11; Chester, son, 5; John C., son, 1. All born Ky/Ky/Ky.
(Only Chester and John in this family are children of Dosha aka Jossie. The notation about “mother of 5 children, 5 living” is thus almost certain to be incorrect, and probably means instead that Richard is the father of 5 children.)
