Lewis, age 63 years 11 months 19 days, born 22 Feb 1864 in Morgan Co., Ky, died 19 Feb 1921 in Wrigley, North Fork precinct, Morgan Co., Ky, farmer, married, father Thomas Lewis, mother’s maiden name Peggy Perry, cause of death heart trouble died very sudden, informant Ollie Walsh, Farmer City, Ill, burial in Lewis Cemitry.

Note that the reported age and date of birth are inconsistent, by seven years. The age would imply a birthdate in 1857, which is correct. Someone’s arithmetic got confused. His mother’s maiden name was also Lewis. This may indicate that she remarried to a Perry after Thomas died.

There was another Gardner Hopkins Lewis just one month younger in Morgan Co., son of Tilman Lewis and Hermione Elliott, plus a Gardner Hopkins Lewis born in 1852, son of Thomas E. Lewis (ca 1823-1898) and Nancy Lewis. So be careful to avoid confusion.
