James’ mother’s maiden name was really Rhoda Ann Sexton, not Jane Sexton, but she died more than ten years before Jessie was born, and the only two paternal “grandmothers” Jessie would have known would have been John’s last two wives, Jane Alfrey and Nancy Jane Cassity, so he probably got their given names confused.

Her death certificate records Lillie Bell Brown, age 80 years 2 months 15 days, born 9 Dec 1872 in W. Va., died 24 Feb 1953 in Rowan Co., Ky, residence R.R.3, Morehead, Ky, widowed, father Tim Wallace, mother’s maiden name Polly Cline, cause of death pneumonia, informant Lolla Walton, burial in family cemetery.

I do not know the name of her second husband. She is buried as Lillie B. Link, 1872 - 1953, next to James Link. The year of birth is probably incorrect, since she was listed as age 4 in 1880, and as born Dec 1875 in 1900, and an earlier birthdate would conflict with the births of her older brothers.

Rowan Co. marriage register A, p. 41, lists the marriage of James Link and Lillie B. Wallace on 23 Sep 1891.

1900 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pearce precinct, enumerated 9 June, lists on p. 7A as family #110:

Since James was listed as 3 in 1860, 12 in 1870, and 23 in 1880, the year of birth for him is likely to be two or three years too late.
