So far as I know Alexander Hall is not related to my Hall line, and Clerinda Martin is not related to my Martin line. My Halls and Martins were in Fleming Co. by 1810, and this Hall and Martin family entered Rowan County from Letcher Co. after 1870. I am tracing their descendants who stayed in the Rowan/Morgan/Elliott County area only to help me avoid confusing them with my own Halls.

1860 census of Letcher Co., Ky, p. 690, lists as family #165:
Hall, Elexander, 36; Clerinda, 26; James, 12; David, 8; Daniel, 6; Floyd, 4; Fanna, 3; Susanah, 6/12. All born Ky.

1880 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct, lists as family #139:
Hall, Alexander, 55, farmer; Clerinda, 49, wife; Floyd, 23, son; Fanny, 21, dau; Susan, 19, dau; Dorkes, 17, dau; Mary A., 13, dau; Frances M., 9, dau; Joseph, 7, son. Clerinda’s parents born in Virginia, all other family members in Kentucky.

The household also contains eight boarders, at least six of whom appear unrelated (the two Martins might be related to Clerinda, but no relationship is recorded.) They are William Daugherty, 52, widowed; William Gorden, 39, widowed; Thos R. Kirby, 25, single; Richard Cundiff, 25, single; James Monday, 23, single; Henry Smith, 28, single. The six preceding born Va Va Va. Allen Martin, 58, married, b. Ky Va Va; Susan Martin, 19, b. Ky Ky Ky. All male boarders have the occupation “works on R Road”.

The neighboring household is that of David Hall and Emma Johnson, with a son Floyd age 2.
