His gravestone spells his name as Woodrow Sloan, and gives his birthdate as 25 March 1883.

Rowan Co. marriage book 6, p. 329, records the marriage on 16 Jan 1908 of Woodroe Sloan, 23, farmer, residence Rowan Co., born Magoffin Co., son of Buck (born Floyd Co) & Matilda (born Magoffin Co) Sloan, at James Fraley’s by Harvey Trent, witnesses Buck Sloan and Julia F. Fraley.
