“Arnold McClurg of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, July 6, 2007, at Morgan County ARH, West Liberty, KY, at the age of 88 years, 2 months, and 14 days. He was born on Tuesday, April 22, 1919, at Blaze, KY, a son of the late Luther and Mertie Hunt McClurg.
Arnold was united in marriage to Christine Sexton on October 17, 1945. To this union, seven children were born. Arnold was a born again Christian of the Pentecostal Faith. He was a retired farmer. He served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and Sylvester McClurg and one sister, Velta McClurg Burkhart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Christine Sexton McClurg; seven children, Larson and Ima Jean McClurg of West Liberty, KY, Vivian Ison of West Liberty, KY, Charlotte and Joe Lewis of Malone, KY, Raymond McClurg of Morehead, KY, Lynn Boyd McClurg and friend Tammy of West Liberty, KY, Billy and Cora McClurg of West Liberty, KY, Michael and Denita McClurg of Sandy Hook, KY; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Blair of Blaze, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2007, at the Potter Funeral Home, with Rev. Eugene Haney and Rev. Vernon Lewis officiating. Burial in the Arnold McClurg Cemetery, McClurg Road, West Liberty, KY. Visitation after 6 p.m., Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Potter Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Danny McClurg, Rodney Ison, Jody McClurg, Barry Lewis, Justin McClurg, Jamie Law, Jeff Benton, Kenny Cockerham, Brent Day, and Brandon Elam.
Military Rites conducted by the Morgan County DAV at the gravesite.”
