Judging by the 1850 and 1860 censuses, he was originally named James Alfred Crawford, but since all adult records are under Alfred, I’m swapping the name order, just as he did.

His death certificate records Alfred Crawford, age 75 years 8 months 21 days, born 25 Dec 1844 in Kentucky, died 21 Sep 1920 in precinct 8, Fleming Co., Kentucky, widower, farmer, father James Crawford, mother’s maiden name Ann Jones, both born in Ky, cause of death Brights Disease, informant Mrs. Roe Crawford, Grange City, Ky, burial in Fairview.

Descendants tend to refer to her as Roberta Ann to fit modern naming conventions, but the records are consistent that her name was Robert Ann. (Just as it was common in the 1800’s to name girls George Ann, rather than Georgia.)

Her death certificate records Robert Anna Trailor, age 72, born 20 Sep 1848 in Carter Co., married, father Jno M. Preice, born in Fleming Co., mother’s maiden name Hulda Gregory, born in Carter Co., cause of death carcinoma of uterus, informant Jas. Trailor, Grange City, Ky, burial in Fannie D. Gregory Cem.

1850 census of Fleming Co., Ky, division 2, enumerated 12 Aug, lists on p. 2 as family #10:

1900 census of Fleming Co., Ky, district 5, enumerated 11 June, lists on p. 6A as family #102/103:
Crawford, Alfred, 55, b. Dec 1844, widowed, farmer; Luster Y., son, 26, b. Feb 1874, married 10/12; Mary J., dau-in-law, married 10/12, 0 children. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The next household is headed by Monroe Crawford, age 23. Alfred is not really widowed, but divorced.
