The relationship and surname of John A. are uncertain. Literally, the fields say that he is a son of Nicles Smith, and his surname is Hall, but there is most likely an error and either he is really named John A. Smith, son of Nicholas and Elizabeth, or the relationship should be step grandson, and he is instead the son of Pinkney or Virginia.
The next household is that of W. P. Dean, whose wife Mary J. I believe to be a sister of Pinkney and Virginia, and thus the daughter of Elizabeth and her first husband.
