Notes for Lee Bide Parsons
The SSDI lists Lee B. Parsons, born 7 Oct 1906, died 18 Jan 1991, SSN issued in Kentucky before 1951.
The Kentucky death index lists Lee B. Parsons, age 84, died 18 Jan 1991 in Rowan Co., residence same.
Lee is buried in Morehead with his third wife Beulah.
Census
1940 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pine Grove precinct, ED 103-10, enumerated 8 April, lists on p. 8B as family #56, on Dry Branch Road:
Parsons, George, 60, occupation blank; Delia, wife, 50; Lee, son, 33, married, auto-mechanic; Lee Junior, grandson, 10; Kennith, grandson, 7; George, grandson, 1. All born in Kentucky, George through Lee living in same house in 1935, Lee Junior and Kennith in same place but not same house.
Lee Junior is the son of Lee Parsons and Ellen Butler, Kenneth and George are sons of Lee Parson and Maude Royse.
Notes for Maude M. Royse
The Kentucky birth index lists Maudie L. Florince, born 19 Nov 1911 in Rowan Co., mother’s maiden name Lulie Rayce. This is the original certificate. There is also a revised certificate, filed in 1943, for Maude M. Manning, born 18 Nov 1911 in Breathitt Co. (a misindexing of Rowan Co.
11), mother’s maiden name Lulu Royse.
In the 1920 census she is listed with her mother’s parents as Maude Royse, age 8, daughter, although it should be granddaughter. “Florince” seems highly unlikely to be a misreading of Coldiron, suggesting that Maude’s father is not Lulie’s husband Robert Coldiron.
Census
In 1920 she was recorded with Bob and Callie Royse as their daughter Maud Royce age 8, although she is really their granddaughter.
In 1940 she and a newborn baby were listed with her mother’s sister Addie, incorrectly recorded as age 23 (she was really 28):
1940 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pine Grove precinct, ED 103-10, enumerated 2 April, lists on p. 1B as family #10:
Nickell, Willie, 51, farm operator own farm; Addie, wife, 42; Asa, son, 18; Carl, son, 14; Harol, son, 8; Callie, dau, 5; Pearl, dau, 5. Royce, Callie, mother-in-law, 72, widowed. Parson, Maude, niece, 23, married; infant boy, 0/12. All born in Kentucky, all Nickells living in same house in 1935, Callie Royse and Maude Parson living in Elliottsville, Rowan Co., Ky in 1935.
According to his gravestone, the baby boy (Billy Dee Parson) was born on 27 March and died April 1, thus one day before the census taker arrived, but the census was supposed to list everyone living at the residence at the beginning of April 1.
Notes for Lee Bide & Maude M. (Family)
Lee and Maude do not appear together in any census. In April 1940, they were both recorded as married, but living separately, Lee with his parents, and Maude with her aunt Addie. They probably divorced shortly after that. Kenneth and George were living with Lee, along with his son Lee Jr by Ellen Butler. The infant Billy Dee was reported with Maude (he died on census day.) I do not know where Ithel and Lou Ann were living.
I also have not found a marriage record for them in Rowan Co.
