Information that Charles who married Nancy Emma Ferrand was the son of Milt Foster and Ellen Jones is from email correspondence with their great-granddaughter Jackie Pottle. I have not found Charles in the 1900 census yet (he should be about 17.)

His WW I draft registration card, filed 12 Sep 1918, records Charley Foster Sr., age 35, residence Clearfield, Ky, born 19 Feb 1883, occupation farming, self-employed, nearest relative Emma Foster.

(The Sr. is not to distinguish him from a son, but from the Charles Foster born 1886, a first cousin.)

His gravestone next to Nancy Emma’s has the birth year 1883, but no death year. It was apparently installed when Nancy was buried, and the inscription never finished.

Her death certificate records Samantha Foster, age 88, born 12 Oct 1873 in Kentucky, died 9 June 1953 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky, usual residence West Liberty, Morgan Co., Ky, widowed, father Allen Craft, mother’s maiden name Phobie Collins, cause of death intestinal obstruction due to Richter’s hernia (femoral canal), informant Edd Foster, burial in Craft Cemetery.

Phoebe Collins was really her stepmother, not her mother.

Morgan Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 16 Sep 1950 of Charley Foster and Samantha Blair.
