“Mrs. Darlene Porter Hogge departed this life on Sunday, 20 June 1999, while living at the Hyden Manor Nursing Home, Hyden, KY, at age 83 years plus. She was born on 15 February 1916 in Rowan County, KY the daughter of the late Clella B Porter and late Adda Williams Porter.
Mrs. Darlene Porter Hogge was preceded in death by her first husband: Mr. Lester C. Williams and her second husband Mr. Arthur W. Hogge who passed 19 January 1997. Also preceding was 1 Sister: Nadine Blouir Lentner, and 1 Niece: Venita Moore Smith.
By occupation Mrs. Darlene Porter Hogge was a School Teacher, including in one room early schools in Rowan Co, KY and Morgan Co., KY and in the Hamilton, Ohio School System, plus teaching on military bases. She was a graduate of Morehead State Teacher’s College.
Mrs. Darlene Porter Hogge was affiliated member of First Church of God, the U. S. Airforce Sergeant Women’s Auxiliary, and she enjoyed reading, and working with flowers and gardening.
Mrs. Darlene Porter Hogge leaves surviving: 1 Sister: Mrs. Cloma Moore of Hyden, KY; 1 Niece: Phyllis Jean Skaggs of Morehead, KY; 2 Nephews: Dale Moore and Randy Moore, both of Hyden, KY. A host of other relatives and friends survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Darlene Porter Hogge were conducted Wednesday, 23 June 1999, at 2:00 pm in the Lane–Stuckey–Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Max Molihan officiating. Internment followed in the Williams Family Cemetery at Elliottville, KY.
Pallbearers: Clarence Porter, Randall Pelfry, Dale Moore, Vernon Lewis, J. G. Morgan, Wm. H Skaggs, Jr.”
