The Mt. Sterling Advocate of Wednesday, February 18, 1903 contains a brief notice that “Mrs. Nathan Riddle, of Rowan County, died suddenly while preparing a meal.”
Rowan Co. marriage records, on LDS microfilm #216839, record marriage on 13 Aug 1858 of Nathan Riddle, 23, residence Slab Camp, born Bath Co., and Mary A. Prather, 18, born East Tennessee, first marriage for both parties.
1860 census of Rowan Co., KY, (June 11) lists on p. 15, family #104:
Nathan Riddle, 25; Mary D., 17; Ann Zana, 9/12. All born in KY. The entry is hard to read; it is possible that the D is really an S, though it has no visible loop and other S's on the same page do. The 17 may also really be a 19.
1870 census of Rowan Co., KY, Pearce Precinct, page 1, lists as family #7:
Riddle, Nathan 34, Susan 29, Ammie 10, Emma 7, Mary 5, Nora 2, all born in KY.
1880 census of Rowan Co., KY, Morehead precinct, lists family #52:
Riddle, Nathan, 43, farmer; Mary, 35; Emma, 18; Nora, 10; Ida, 8; Lewis, 3; Lucy, 1.
1900 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Morehead precinct 1, lists on p. 19B as family #370:
Nath Riddle, 63, b. Jun 1836, farmer; Mary, wife, 59, b. Oct 1840, married 35 years, 10 children, 8 living; Ruth, dau, 14, b. Feb 1886; Willie, son, 16, b. Feb 1884; Lewis, son, 12, b. Sep 1887. All born in Kentucky.
The birthdates are likely wrong for both Lewis and Willie, and possibly for everyone.
