Notes for Lewis H. Riddle
His WWI draft registration card, issued in 1917/1918 (the images on Ancestry do not show the side of the card that has the date it was filed), says Lewis Riddle, age 41, residence Morehead, Rowan Co, Ky, born 17 Oct 1876, occupation farmer, self-employed, nearest relative Allie Riddle, Morehead, Ky.
The 1900 census says his date of birth is Sept 1887, but that is inconsistent with other records, and the birthdates in that census are largely fictional.
Index to Kentucky Death Records lists Lewis Riddle, d. 23 Oct 1963, age 87, in Rowan Co., residence same, certificate Vol. 56, #27590.
Jean Hudson's cemetery notes include in Coffey Cemetery, W. Flemingsburg Rd, Rowan Co. adjacent stones for:

Allie Riddle 18 Jan 1883 - 18 Sep 1931
Kenny Ray Riddle Feb 1949 - May 1949
The same stones are listed under Crix Cemetery on Rt. 1167, except that the dates for Allie are given as 3 Jan 1883 - 12 Sep 1931. Obviously the stones from one cemetery were moved to the other, but I did not make note of which one was the original and which the destination.

There is a death certificate which is probably hers that records:
Ellen Riddle, age 60 years, 2 months 17 days, born 14 May 1889 in Ky, died 1 Aug 1949 in Rowan Co., Ky, married, father Lee Kidd, mother’s maiden name Mary Robinson, cause of death hypertensive heart disease, informant Lewis Riddle, burial in Purvis Cemetery.
The gravestone of the above Ellen Riddle (with matching death date) instead contains the birthdate 19 Sep 1888. There are no other Riddles buried in the cemetery, but both Leander Cox Kidd and Nancy Kidd are buried there, as are Leander’s brothers Samuel and William.
There are discrepancies in both the birth date and the mother’s maiden name, but I can find no Ellen Kidd with a birthdate around 1888/1889, and no Lee Kidd with a wife named Mary Robinson. Also, in the 1940 census, Lewis Riddle’s wife Ellen was recorded as age 58, which would imply a birthdate between Apr 1881 to March 1882.
I should look for her obituary.
