His gravestone says Mar 3, 1888 - July 10, 1940, which conflicts with his death certificate (Vol. 36, #17974.)

It records Mitchell Black, age 52 years 3 months 21 days, born 18 Mar 1888 in Rowan Co., Ky, died 9 July 1940 in Rowan Co., Ky, residence same, occupation farmer, widowed, father Leander Black, mother’s maiden name Lizzie Pettit, both born in Rowan Co., cause of death myocarditis with left ventricular failure, informant Delbert Jones, Morehead, Ky, burial in Black Cemetery.

Her death certificate (Vol. 57, #28154) records Tennesee Black, age 21 years 21 days, born 20 Oct 1894 in Elliott Co., Ky, died 18 Nov 1915 in Rowan Co., Ky, married, father Wash Johnson, mother’s maiden name unknown, cause of death bronchial pneumonia, informant Michel Black, Clayton, Ky, burial in Black Cemetery.

1920 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Hogtown precinct, enumerated 20 Jan, records on p. 11A as family #205:
Mitchell Black, 31, farmer; Lissie, wife, 20; Lemuel, son, 10; Hazel, dau, 9; Burlin, son, 6; Barbara, dau, 3 4/12. All born Ky Ky Ky.
