The Ohio deaths database lists Hazel Dehart, age 84, born 30 July 1907 in Kentucky, died 2 Jan 1992 at home, Springfield, Clark Co., Ohio, father’s surname Binion, mother’s maiden name Flanery, married, homemaker.

Email message from their granddaughter Linda Delong (daughter of Gladys Jewell) included the following accounting of children and grandchildren:

“Monie Collins husbands name was Clayton F Collins, he was born 8-21-1925 died 5-22-1998. They have four children Brenda (married to Sam?), Donna married to George Elam, Thelma married to ?, and Delma married to Dana Whitt. Thelma and Delma are twins

Gracie Marie married Talmage James she was born 11-2-1926 and died 10-12-2000 Tal is also gone. They had one natural son Jeffery

William Edgar was married to Bernice Kidd the first time. They had two children Janet Kay who died at the age of 21 married to a Ken Endicott. Joyce Ann married to Kurt Bubp. They have 3 children. Andrew, Kelli and Kara. None of which are married.

Mom Gladys Jewell married Melvin Walker.She was born 11-30-1929 died 9-25-2010. She has two daughters. Linda Sue married to James DeLong. We have two sons Aaron married Amy Cox, they have three children Brady, Bethany and Emily. Chad who is not married. Pamela is the other child married to Emil Walt Milker.

Essie Fay was married to Carl David Orpurt he died 11-13-1985 They have two sons Michael married to Missy with two children Christopher and Rachael. Kevin Ray first married to Anne ? they had two children Sarah and Rebecca. He is now married to Kim ?

Paul Lester was married to Cleta? They had two children Brain unmarried and Annette. She has been married several times and has 3 children. Rickey Osenbaug, Pauletta ? and Sara Jackson

Ernest was married to Bettie Ann Brown. She was born in Wyett Ky 4-14-1941 died 5-7-1999 They have two children Debra Ann married to Greg Dawes with two children. Colton and Makenna. Lori was married to a Mike Parson they have two sons, Justin and Jacob.

Mary Magdaline married William "Bill" Music and have one son Michael who is not married.

Eliazabeth Fern was married to Charles Brown and had three children. Gary Ray, Theresa, and Jack. Gary was adopted by Aunt Marie(Gracie) She then married a Morrisey and had a son named Patrick.

Beula Gay (check spelling we call her Gay) First married to Dennis McCombs and had two children. Mark married to Kelli? and Tim second married to?? now married to Tony Yohman.

Thomas Edwin married Gracie Reynolds He was born 5-24-1946 died 6-18-2010 They had two sons. Douglas Edwin died 3-6-2007 he had two children Tara and Shawana Their second son Dewayne is not married.

There was also a son Gary Ray who died soon after he was born. We were told this summer that there were also a set of twins born that did not live. This I can not really confirm.”

1930 census of Rowan Co., Hogtown precinct, enumerated 21 April, lists on p. 11B as family #199/209:
Dehart, Melvin, 27, farmer, age at first marriage 22; Hazel, wife, 21, age at first marriage 18; Monnie, daughter, 4 4/12; Gracie M., daughter, 3 3/12; William E., son, 1 7/12; Gladis J., daughter, 4/12. All born in Kentucky.

Since Hazel was born in July 1907, and the Kentucky birth index lists her as the mother of Monnie L. Dehart born in Nov 1925, she would have really been 22 at the time of this census, and 17 when she and Melvin were married.
