Notes for James M. B. Fraley
Rowan Co. birth records list James B. Fraly, born 8 Jul 1858, son of Welsin Fraly and Priscilla Fultes, residence Sarvice.
All adult records that show any middle initial give it as M. instead. I’ve entered it as M. B., but they might really be in the other order.
If the names of his brothers are any indication, he was probably named after some political figure whose first name was James and whose remaining two initials were either M.B. or B.M. No obvious candidates come to mind.
I cannot find a death record for James.
He is probably the James M. Fraley listed in the Rowan Co. Cemetery Survey as buried in Fraley-Osborne Cemetery, next to Mariah Fraley, with the dates recorded in the survey as 1846-1936. If so, the birthdate is off by 12 years, but it may have been either mistranscribed, or incorrectly reported by whoever put up the stone.
