“Harold C. "Red" Duff, 80, of Middletown, OH went to be with the Lord January 13, 2001 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dayton, OH. He was born on February 14, 1920 in Winchester, KY and lived here most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Duff was property manager for Heritage Investments for 15 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3809 of Middletown and a former member of American Legion Post 218 and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 528 of Middletown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Effie (Blair) Duff; and two brothers, Thomas F. and Bill Duff. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Opal V. Duff; a daughter, Karen S. Ryan of Middletown; a son William H. Duff of New Richmond, OH; a stepson, Arthur Lee Spicer of Trenton, OH; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Glen Duff of Middletown. He will be sadly missed.”

“Mrs. Pirley (Staton) Duff Zennie, 79, formerly of Middletown, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at 6:50 a.m. at her son's residence, 2910 Pond Run Lane, New Richmond, Ohio. She had lived in New Richmond for nine months. She was born in Middletown, Ohio, on May 31, 1920, the daughter of Eli and Dulcenia (Noble) Staton. She was retired from NCR Corp. in Dayton where she had been employed for 20 years. Mrs. Zennie had also been employed at Woody's in West Carrollton and at McGee's in Middletown. She was a member of the Breiel Boulevard First Church of God in Middletown. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Zennie; three brothers, Siebert, Delbert and Paul Staton; and a sister, Monica Staton. Survivors include a son, William H. Duff, and his wife, Pauline, of New Richmond, Ohio; four grandsons, Michael W. Duff, and his wife, Laurie, of Brighton, Mich., Mitchel H. Duff, and wife, Jennifer, of Milford, Ohio, Mark P. Duff, and wife, Shari, of Amelia, Ohio, and Christopher M. Duff, and wife, Lisa, of Robstown, Texas; a granddaughter, Kimberly M. Manis of Batavia, Ohio; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marcella Schoultis and Audrey Sponsel, both of Middletown, and Jacqueline Donovan, and her husband, Willard, of Lauren, S.C.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends and acquaintances.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 7, from noon until 2 p.m. at Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with her grandson, the Rev. Mitchel Duff, officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.”
